Last week, we covered two main points – two to focus on, instead of the usual three-to-four.
*Jesus is our representative before God – and He gets us, because He Himself was human.
*Jesus is the source of eternal salvation. No one else.

Let’s Get Started!
We’re going through Hebrews chapter 6 this week. Go ahead and click on the link here, or flip open your Bible.
Number One:
Let us move onto maturity. Let us move away from just the basic and elementary teachings about God existing, the Old Testament Law, and repetitive repentance. There is so much more to grow in. (Hebrews 6:1-2)
Of course I could go deeper into this. I could talk all about the Law and the basic doctrines of our faith – but seriously, these aren’t what we need to be focusing on.
We already know that God exists. We know that we’re sinners, and that on our own, we can never measure up to God’s standard of holy perfection.
But no longer do we need to dwell on our inadequacies – because it is through Jesus that we are counted right before God.
No longer do we have to worry about our performance and penance to save us – because we are saved by grace.
And grace is enough.
Instead of dwelling on those things that have already been dealt with at the cross, we are to grow in grace. To get to know God and have the relationship that He desires to have with us. To live in freedom.
To go on to maturity.
Number Two:
God’s promises stand forever. (Hebrews 6:17-18)
All these promises in the Bible that are made to us – they’re the real deal. Verses 13 through 18 shed light on such an intriguing perspective – they show us that people usually make promises through swearing by something greater than themselves.
And yet there is no one greater than God.
And because God cannot lie, His promises are trustworthy and true – and we can know that because He does not lie, we can rely on Him to speak only what is right.
And isn’t that an incredible assurance?
We might have to wait for what feels like forever to receive what God has promised us. We might start to lose hope that what He’s said to us will actually happen.
Yet, when God makes a promise, He keeps it – and that’s something we can count on.
Number Three:
Jesus is our hope – the One who represents us before God in the Holy of Holies. (Hebrews 6:19-20)
He goes before God for us – He atones for our sin – He shepherds our souls.
As no one else could, He paid for our sin and called us blameless before God – and that is who we are.
Verse 19 begins with, “We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul…” meaning that this fact is unchanging. We are forgiven. We are free. We are holy because of Jesus.
And He is our reason for hope.

In short? Our true hope is in Jesus alone – in what He’s done, and in the work He does in our lives each day.

Love your insights. Is is so easy to not move on to maturity if we keep looking at us and stuff. The only remedy is to keep looking to JESUS. The author and perfector of our faith. ( HEBREWS 12:1-2).

Love love LOVE this! The Bible holds so much promise and hope and it’s so easy, I know from personal experience, to read the Bible at the beginning of the day (that’s when I usually have my devotions) and then go throughout the day and in the evening feel exhausted because I forgot everything I read. *facepalm* UGHHH.
But I agree with what you said. Right now in my life there are some pretty big things that I’m waiting on God for, and sometimes it seems like WHEN IS GOD GOING TO DO THIS but I try in those moments to remember that God never fails on His promises and He will bring me through this season into something greater. It’s great to hear your insights of the Bible! Love this post ❤

Hmm, I like that first point. It’s important to move on, to grow in Christ. There’s so much He wants to teach us!
At the moment, a promise that’s been comforting to me is 1 Thessalonians 5:24: Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. It’s so encouraging to know that if God brings us to something, He’ll give us what we need to get through it. What’s been one of your favourite promises?

Absolutely! And it’s so easy to become complacent, to think, “Ugh, I know all of this already…” but truly, we can’t ever know it all! Which, while seemingly overwhelming, is such a blessing. We’re always able to learn more. 😀

Ooh, good question! I actually had to think about this. Probably, one of my favorites is Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Oft-quoted, but amazing!
It’s so easy to get caught up in all the good things we can do, and yet forget that it’s God’s work in us that saves. At least, that’s something I find such a comfort to remember.
